5 devastating mistakes that destroy Nigerian Celebrity marriages

This is not a good season at all for Nigerian celebrity marriages. They just seem to fail so much this days and often very devastatingly. To make it worse,the after effect of the marriage collapse is also equally sad because most of them usually take to social media to lambast  their exes to garner public sympathy or just to cool off.

The few wise ones soldier on silently. Take the roll call yourself: Toke Makinwa and Maje Ayida, Prince Eke and Muma Gee, Tonto Dike and Churchill Oladunni, the list is endless if you decide to add other celebrity wannabes.

These are the mistakes that frustrates their unions so effectively. Internalize the lessons to avoid their pitfalls (maka ndu gi).  Who knows you might be the next celebrity tomorrow!

Pride

This is one of their biggest mistakes. Many of them are so fucking proud that you can't relate with them properly on a good day. Meanwhile,  most of them actually came from poor homes and wore patched uniforms to school as kids.  Now, because of fans they have accumulated they now see themselves as demigods and carry the same attitudes into their homes to wreck havoc. They expect their partners to give them the same red-carpet treatment they get so often from fans, when that doesn't happen all hell is let loose. They cannot divorce themselves from their public images to settle down at home properly with their spouses.

Over exposure of their marriage on social Media.

Most of them are guilty of this. Don't get it wrong, there is absolutely nothing wrong in being on social media as a married couple especially if you are a celebrity but most of them overstretch things and so doing aggravate very normal situations. How do you explain someone going on social media publicly to attack another woman over her husband or man over his wife? Or the very annoying posting of every single event of their life on social media?  You sleep you post it,  you wake up you post it.  Idle minds on social media quickly latch up and begin to post dangerous ideas as advice and before you know it you are at logger heads with your spouse. The few successful celebrity couples in Nigeria like Mercy Johnson Okojie and Prince Okojie and Omotola Jalade Ekehinde and her husband makes use of social media too but sparingly when it concerns their marriage.

Immaturity

This one is so glaring. Sometimes you are dazed at the childishness of these our celebrities. They snap at very little things like children. Things that normal couples will settle and move on peacefully, our celebrity couple will keep dwelling on it unnecessarily most times on social media. And of course some of them so enjoyed their single status that they fail to make the needed adjustments for married life. They forget that successful marriage is hard work and the gain is endless.

Cheating

Aha! We all know this one. The worst cheats are found among celebrities. Maybe be because of the abundance of fans, money or just plain stupidity. The propensity to cheat is so high and usually they have a lot of people to do it with, co-workers, fans, you name them. And amazingly most of them including the married ones see it as no big deal. But the moment it becomes public knowledge,their marriages begin to suffer. Sadly, most of the recent break ups have these very familiar theme.

Competing against each other

Unfortunate but true, some see their partners as the competition. They see their marriage as a race of who will be most successful in their respective carriers. And very soon resentment sets in accompanied by petty jealousy when one partner is underperforming. This leads to all kinds of manipulations to outsmart each other to appear more successful,  more likeable and so on. They forget so easily that they are supposed to complement each other to be better as a couple.

It is also important in conclusion to perhaps add that the pressures of the industry contributes in no small measure in this issue of high divorce rate among Nigeria celebrities. But the trick is to find a healthy balance between proffesional life and married life. Happy living!
